Why Do I Teach?
For more than five years, I watched my younger sister struggle through school. She was diagnosed with several learning disabilities at an early age and was not receiving the support she needed. I began to help her extensively and quickly developed a love for teaching. As I watched her improve, I realized the value and privilege of being a teacher and decided to pursue a career in elementary education.
My goal is to create a safe classroom community in which students establish a love for learning, develop strong peer relationships, and grow the confidence to try new things.

My Experience
I have always loved being in a classroom since I was a child. In my junior year of high school, I discovered the Montessori philosophy of education. I valued the emphasis on whole-child thinking, a supportive classroom environment, and the teacher as a guide. I interned for two years at Bryant Woods Montessori Children's House and Love of Learning Montessori School, where I became an assistant teacher for the following three years.
As a student at the University of Maryland, College Park, I also discovered my passion for girls' empowerment. I helped create and expand a local girls' empowerment club, Power Up, in Prince George's County. I gained valuable teaching skills as I developed a 12-week curriculum and directed the organization for two semesters.
