Power Up: Empowering Young Girls in Prince George's County
What is Power Up?
Power Up is a girls' empowerment club for 4th through 6th graders at Langley-Park McCormick Elementary School and Adelphi Elementary School in College Park, MD. It was founded by Reby Silverman, a UMD graduate, in Fall 2013 and was expanded by Skylar Collatz and Amanda Schwartz in Fall 2014.
The official goal of Power Up is to build and foster a safe space through which the girls can engage in learning about self-esteem and the value of education as a pathway towards future achievement.
